Open your heart, voice and body to the soulful expression of Spirit with Gordy, Zoe and OBA. Join master musicians in a week of shared inspiration, soulful music, and big fun. Discover the music inside of you. Play, sing and dance on a cultural journey with artists who have devoted their lives to traditional dances, rhythms and songs from West Africa. Follow the musical journey from its roots to New Orleans gumbo, jazz and funk. Build a solid base with clear fundamental hand drum technique, and then create hot rhythm arrangements using voice, hand drums, and percussion instruments including dunun, bells, and shekere. All are welcome, from beginner to pro.

 

Gordy Onayemi Ryan is a composer, recording artist, and producer who has performed worldwide with Babatunde Olatunji’s Drums of Passion. His lineage: Olatunji, Ladji Camara, Chief Bey, and Pablo Landrum.

 

Zoe Ryan has toured with Olatunji and learned with the masters Iyalu Akanbi, Yao Tamaklo and Allalade. She shares the transformational power of dance with compassion and grace. www.obatheband.com
