Join Hollyhock Cooks co-author and former head chef, Moreka Jolar, for a program of inspired culinary play and create the food that is the hallmark of our famous kitchen. Working closely with local harvests from the garden and sea, learn to improvise with foods, sharpen your skills and compose meals that are balanced, nutritious, and exploding with flavour and freshness. Cook with whole and unrefined ingredients, alternative sweeteners, superfoods, edible flowers and ethnically diverse flavors touching on the trends of vegan, gluten free and raw foods. At play in the Hollyhock kitchen, delve into knife skills, basic food safe tips and menu planning. Whether you come to fillet a fish, whip up a delicate stew, make garden-inspired salads or roll out fine pastry, this is a hands-on program and promises new skills and inspiration for the novice and seasoned chef alike.

Moreka Jolar is most fired up when creating good eats and motivating others to do the same. Her career has taken her from Vancouver’s artisan bakeries to busy island retreat centres. She has been a chef at Hollyhock for 15 years and co-authored the bestselling cookbook, Hollyhock Cooks. Her passion for fresh, inspired foods is as infectious as her laughter. www.cookscooperative.com
