Make Every Word Count - Vancouver

May 17, 2014

Presented by: Arlene Kroeker

  • Vancouver

Your writing is a reflection of you and your skills. Writing skills are becoming a lost art in this age of texting and email. To craft a note or a letter that communicates strength as well as ideas has become a challenge personally and in the business world. In these changing times, with employers receiving hundreds of resumes, potential employees need to make a lasting first impression and that begins with a well-crafted cover letter.

In all correspondence, whether online or in print, a complaint or a commendation, a note to a teacher or a lawyer, it is important to make every word count; and every idea or thought appear brilliant. Learn the art of writing consciously and with purpose. Learn how to approach writing, hone your skills, build confidence, and commit to the writing process. Then create powerful letters, business correspondence, newsletters, short stories, blogs, essays, or magazine articles.

Arlene Kroeker earned her MFA in creative writing at UBC. She writes about food and culture, and teaches at Langara College.
